Fears and Phobias
When you know the fear doesn’t make sense — but your body reacts anyway.
A fear or phobia can have a surprisingly big impact on your life.
You may completely understand that you’re safe, but that doesn’t stop the racing heart, panic, dread or overwhelming urge to get away. Sometimes even thinking about the situation is enough to trigger the response.
And over time, it can become easier to avoid the thing altogether.
Hypnotherapy can help you work with that automatic response, so that the fear no longer has the same hold over you.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
I work with many different fears and phobias, including:
Fear of flying
Needles and medical procedures
Heights
Driving
Enclosed spaces
Animals and insects
Dentists
Public speaking
Vomiting
Lifts and escalators
Travel
Specific situations or experiences
Your fear doesn’t have to fit neatly into a category. If something is causing anxiety, avoidance or stopping you from doing what you want to do, we can talk about it.
You don’t have to face your biggest fear on day one.
For some people, the thought of dealing with a phobia can be almost as frightening as the phobia itself.
Therapy doesn’t have to mean throwing you straight into the situation you’re frightened of.
We work at a pace that feels manageable, helping your mind and body begin to respond differently and building confidence as we go.
Depending on you and the fear we’re working with, I may use hypnotherapy alongside techniques from EMDR, EFT, NLP and other therapeutic approaches.
There isn’t one script or method that I use for everyone. Your sessions are built around you, your response and what you want to be able to do differently.
Imagine being able to do it without the fear taking over.
Getting on the plane.
Booking the appointment.
Driving somewhere new.
Standing at the top instead of turning back.
Walking into the room without looking for the nearest exit.
Sometimes the goal isn’t to absolutely love the thing you once feared.
It’s simply to reach a point where fear isn’t making your decisions for you anymore.
