- What will happen in a therapy session?
Each session is calm, supportive, and tailored to you. We’ll begin by talking through what’s been going on and what you’d like help with. When we move into the therapy part, you’ll be invited to get comfortable — usually lying down — and to close your eyes if that feels okay for you. This simply helps your mind and body relax and focus inward. From there, I’ll guide you using approaches such as hypnotherapy, EMDR, or EFT to help your system process things differently. You’ll remain aware and in control throughout, and we’ll always work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
- Will I lose control during hypnotherapy?
No. Hypnotherapy is a deeply relaxed but aware state — not mind control. You’ll be fully aware of what’s happening and can come out of it at any time. Most people describe it as feeling calm, focused, and in control, just without the usual mental noise.
- Is it evidence based?
Yes. The approaches I use are backed by extensive training and a strong and growing body of research. EMDR, for example, is a well-established therapy for trauma and is recommended by organisations such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. It has been used very effectively for many years to help people process and recover from distressing experiences.EFT is also supported by a growing evidence base, particularly in the treatment of anxiety, stress, and emotional regulation, with studies showing significant improvements in both psychological and physical symptoms.I combine these approaches with clinical hypnotherapy to work not just at a thinking level, but with the deeper patterns held in the mind and body — supporting meaningful, lasting change.
- How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person depending on what you’re coming with. Some clients notice shifts quite quickly, while others benefit from a series of sessions to work through things more fully. We’ll regularly review progress together so you always feel clear about where you are.
- Do I need to talk about everything in detail?
No. You don’t need to go into detail about anything you’re not comfortable sharing. Approaches like EMDR and EFT can be effective without having to talk through every part of an experience. We focus on helping your system process and shift, rather than analysing everything.
